Here at Smawthorne Community Church we take issues of safeguarding seriously, whether it's related to children and young people or vulnerable adults.
For example, our Kids Church sessions always include a volunteer who has passed a DBS check and we ensure child to adult ratios are followed in all of our groups.
Our volunteers and church leaders also receive safeguarding training to ensure they are equipped to identify and deal with issues around safeguarding.
The safeguarding coordinator at Smawthorne Community Church is Angela. She is responsible for making sure safeguarding practices are adhered to in the church.

We also have a detailed safeguarding policy, which is available on request. The purpose of this document is to assist everyone in the church, especially leaders and those who work with children and young people, to protect and safeguard children who are at risk of abuse or neglect.
